What are anchors ?
Links that point to a section or particular part of a page or post are called anchors. Say you have a page describing a particular city which is full of text and divided into different sections, for example, listings in that city, amenities in that city and schools in that city. You want to have an index at the top of the page and when someone clicks on a link they are taken directly to the chapter they wanted to read. How can you achieve that? That’s what anchors are good for…
Here are the steps on how to create anchors in WordPress for your real estate blog.
This is a School Anchor Example (scroll down to end of post to see link back to this anchor position)
(Step#1)Write the content for your page.
After you have written your content, copy and save it into another application just in case you need to retrieve it again. Notepad is a simple app for this. Proceed to Step #2.
(Step#2)Click into the HTML mode
(Step#3)Use the following code to SET your anchors:
Replace “Name of link” with a visitor friendly name.
Position this code on your page where you want to set your anchor.
(Step#4)Link to your anchor (note the use of the pound sign)
In your content or index, link to your anchor by using this code.

Here is a working example.
If you click this school link , it will take you back to the the top of this page to the school anchor.
